Trunk Show Travels from Thistle and Thicket Studio

A Lightbulb Moment Quilt Designed, Pieced & Quilted by Thistle Thicket Studio & featured in The Best of Moda Bake Shop Book. www.thistlethicketstudio.com

Last week, I was thrilled to be asked to present a trunk show for quilt guilds in northcentral Kansas in Hays on being a Moda Bake Shop Chef. It was so much fun sharing the things I've made for Moda Bake Shop, from designing patterns for their website to co-hosting sew alongs on Instagram to designing patterns for four MBS books.

Moda Bake Shop Chef Trunk Show by Thistle Thicket Studio. www.thistlethicketstudio.com

Moda Fabrics was so generous in providing giveaways for my trunk show. They provided two project bags filled with goodies for door prizes and lots (and lots) of mini charms for every attendee. I decided to dress up ...

Rollin' Along from Thistle and Thicket Studio

Boy, this summer has rolled right on past me! Where has the time gone? I have been busy sewing and thought I'd pop in and share one of my projects.

Moda Bake Shop Book "Rollin' Along" Featuring Thistle Thicket Studio's Quilt "Chain Links".
This spring, the third Moda Bake Shop book was released and it features projects made with jelly rolls. It is appropriately named "Rollin' Along".

"Chain Links" Quilt Designed By Thistle Thicket Studio. www.thistlethicketstudio.com
I was blessed to have a quilt included in the book called "Chain Links". It's a fun and easy quilt and the machine quilting pattern (called Modern Ogee by Anita Shackelford) really sets it off.

Moda selected their summer sew along project from the ...

Riding the Rails - a new published pattern from Crayon Box Quilt Studio

I'm way behind on posting including another big announcement.
I've got another new pattern published. It's in the newly released Rolling Along from Moda Bake Shop and Martingale Publishing.
The designers have been/are hosting giveaways to share the news of this great new book. Due to my hectic schedule during Girl Scout cookie season (which is now, thankfully, done for this year), I've missed sharing the news (so sorry), but you can still enter Jen Daly's giveaway on Instagram at @jendalyquilts which ends tomorrow, June 10th.

I'll be posting my giveaway on IG ...

Sneak Peak! from Crayon Box Quilt Studio

Today I'm sharing a little sneak peak of the quilt I made for the upcoming book "Did Someone Say Cake?" being released next month and available at Shop Martingale.

These are the gorgeous fabrics I used. The batik colors are so rich and vibrant and the prints are the perfect scale, in my opinion.

The fabric line is Malibu Batiks and it's currently available from a huge number of quilt shops, but don't wait to get your stash. I expect it will sell out quickly.
Here's the last sneak peak I can share until the book ...

I'm excited and humbled to announce that my first in print published pattern appears in Moda Bake Shop's Did Someone Say Cake? which arrives on book stands in February.

Winter Frost Wall Hanging, Table Runner and Placemats from Crayon Box Quilt Studio

In December 2020 I participated as one of the Chefs for Moda's Countdown to Christmas Quilt Along.  This year's theme was Winter Frost and the fabrics chosen where a mix of prints and Moda Grunge in Ice Blue, Royal Blue, Aqua and White.

While designing blocks for these events, I've come to the decision that I don't want to end up with random blocks that get put away, never to be seen again.  I didn't have time to make the entire quilt so I chose to make a wall hanging with a limited number of ...

Moda Bake Shop: Oh Good Night! from Jo's Country Junction

As many of you know, Kelli and I did a lot of quilts for Moda Bake Shop several years ago.  Some of the things you likely don’t know is that Moda Bake Shop isn’t run quite the way it used to run.  The site has been reworked and can now be found through www.modafabrics.com.  Well through all of this, Kelli and I have been overwhelmed by questions from interested parties wanting the patterns for specific quilts as some of the patterns have been “lost in the archives”.  Well, to be honest, we are wanting to avoid ...

Best of Moda Bake Shop -- Pillow Parade Hop {Finished Pillow and More Big News} from Little Bunny Quilts

Yesterday was my day to share on the Best of Moda Bake Shop Pillow Parade on Instagram, so today I thought I would share my finished pillow!

If you have the book, I made a pillow out of a single block featured in the quilt without additional sashing. I made the block using scraps left over from the original quilt and added in a solid green background fabric that coordinated with the prints in the collection.

I used some scrap batting and scrap white solid fabric to quilt the the block for the front of the pillow.

I quilted the ...

My Back Porch table runner & Moda's Summer in the Country Quilt Along - Blocks 11-16 from Crayon Box Quilt Studio

I've gotten behind with blog post over the past few weeks for Moda's Summer in the Country Quilt Along so today I'm posting links to blocks 11 through 16.  I'm also sharing what I made with the blocks that I designed for the quilt along.

Patriotic designs speak to me of Summer, not just to celebrate the July 4th holiday.  With my Moonlight and Firefly blocks created for the quilt along, I decided to add one more block and turn it into a table runner for our kitchen table.

The size worked out perfectly for our ...
